The Beauty Edit: Super Supplements

supplements

Taking vitamins and supplements have become part of everyday life for many of us now. The demands and stresses of life have left us with less time than needed to really look after ourselves from dietary requirements, skincare and exercise. However the pressure to look good has increased, what with camera phones at every event, I mean you can’t even go to the toilet now for god’s sake without someone creating a full blown photoshoot for their Facebook.

Thankfully there’s some great supplements out there to give us a hand to improve skin quality and organ health if we are missing some of the essentials from our diet.

I have two which I am taking at the moment one is targeted specifically for skin the other is a labelled as a dietary supplement and is a super powerful anti-oxidant that works with the body and skin, they both bring something different to the plate and each have their benefits. Lets break them down.

Imedeen Skincare Tablets

These small scientifically proven supplements have been formulated to  cater different age groups.

  • Derma One for the 30+ (that’s me)
  • Time Perfection for the 40+
  • Prime Renewal for the 50+
  • Men

[message_box title=”” color=”lightblue”]Each contain the exclusive Marine Complex, a unique combination of protein and polysaccharide, it contains elements similar to those naturally found in the skin which help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.[/message_box]

Being an inquisitive (nosy) person I wanted to know what was used in the very secretive Marine Complex, however she told me only a select few know the ingredient, “it’s a secret recipe like Coca Cola” she said. This of course intrigues me even more, what ever it is it holds the key to better skin!

Other main ingredients are Vitamin C, a crucial player in the skincare game. Whether taken orally through food, supplement or topically with products this is an essential Vitamin to have in your daily routine.
Zinc is another key ingredient which supports the maintenance of normal skin, this is vital as abnormalities can lead to many diseases. Other properties this mineral has is protecting cells from oxidative stress! a major skin ager.

I had a dermal skin scan to view the levels of collagen and elastin left in my skin at my age, I’m far from old but as you age these levels decrease leading to loss in volume and the spring left in the skin. I’m currently taking these for 3 months and have another scan.
My levels were over 80% which I believe is that of someone younger *air punch* but there’s also room to improve and increase the condition – on it!

I was shown some comparisons of people who drink and smoke heavily and the effects on the dermal layers were shocking, the after images of those taking these for 12 weeks was incredible. One lady went from being in the red to just tipping the green. Btw all scans are confidential no names are shown just gender and age.

MitoQ Nutritional Supplement

These small patented capsules contain the next generation CoQ anti-oxidant technology. Studies show the supplement, which delivers the well known antioxidant CoQ to the mitochondria, (which is our cellular power source) better than ever before, helps repair mitochondrial dysfunction, significantly reduces oxidative damage to cells and  supports heart, liver and brain health while assisting in the increase of energy,  libido and healthy ageing.

Some really promising news I have read from this product is that some MS sufferers have reported they have seen an increase in their energy levels which is amazing! I must stress this wasn’t medical fact but more reviews from actual users.

Other studies have found that the trial in hepatitis C virus patients did show liver protection, this shows that not only does it help maintain skin health but also keeps our organs functioning normally even under stress. Amazing!

[message_box title=”RECHARGE YOUR CELLS!” color=”white”]The effect? Your cells start to act and look young again. MitoQ Serum supports your skin cells to achieve youthful levels of collagen and elastin. And when you take the MitoQ supplement, your brain, your heart, your liver – indeed, all of your organs – get the energy they need to do their jobs like they did when you were younger[/message_box]

Recommended dose

Take 2 every morning. Contains no animal products or gluten.

I have been taking the Imedeen for around 4 weeks and have noticed a great diffrence in my skin, I was suffering from breakouts on my chin, around the mouth, and on the forehead and between brows. I’ve also found my skin is not as oily but the most visible difference for me is around my eyes, it was looking a little dehydrated and in the light I could see the fine lines deepening but in all honesty the skin looks smoother there.

The MitoQ are very new to my routine and only started taking them Sunday. I can’t wait to feel the benefits inside and out.

Usually you need to trial a product around 3 months to see or feel the benefits, think of them as an investment. How much would you spend on one night out drinking? or on a pair of shoes?

PLEASE NOTE: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding always make sure you read whether they’re suitable.
