Skin Care With Benefits: Oxygenetix Foundation Review

Ever wondered if there was a foundation that could let skin breathe and heal simultaneously? ponder no more as the UK now has this high tech product which is already coveted amongst Hollywoods elite.

Founder Barry Knapp launched Oxygenetix* back in 2008, having already carved a solid career in cosmetics and being son of one of the nation’s leading colourists, Renae Knapp. Barry worked as an executive for cosmetic companies and later created a foundation that would both heal and conceal. Oxygenetix was originally sold to dermatologists and plastic surgeons due to its ability to both soothe and heal the skin after evasive skin treatments including laser skin therapy.
This then created a buzz in Hollywood and caught the attention of many A-list celebrities, resulting in 10 leading Hollywood studios carrying the line.

The fact that there’s a product out there that can be used on such sensitised and damaged skin is incredible progress for the cosmetics world. Formulas have improved so much so that now we have skincare with benefits!

[message_box title=”This is a high-end foundation with a high tech formula, let’s read the benefits” color=”white”]The prime ingredient in the product is the pro-healing, patent-pending Ceravitae, a super charged oxygen complex that promotes collagen cell production and connective growth in ageing and wounded skin. It is also natural Aloe Barbadensis gel based ( not water-based like most foundations, that often attract bacteria to the skin) and provides anti-bacterial qualities, protects compromised skin, while astringently removing dead surface cells. Furthermore, it is transfer and water resistant, which allows it to stay on for hours even in humid environments. It’s oxygen-enriched and natural components make it virtually a second skin,

It has a lightweight gel texture that begins to thicken as it dries, it provides a medium to full coverage depending on the amount applied. One tiny pump covers the center of my face to which I thin out towards the hairline. There’s no obvious scent which many will like and dries to a natural finish that glows but isn’t overly dewy.

Skin looks uniform and pleasantly radiant but make sure to set before using a powder blush or contour as it still has a very slight tackiness to it. Water doesn’t penetrate the foundation, it sits on top making this an ideal product for humid climates or if you need coverage whilst swimming. Speaking of which this has the added bonus of  SPF 25 UVA + UVB protection!

Rubbed in with fingers. 1 small pump provides medium coverage

It is hypoallergenic and contains no oils, fragrances, dyes or parabens.

I’m a fan of anything that has skin care enriched ingredients especially antioxidants like Vitis Vinifera – (grape seed extract) and Hyaluronic acid.

I like the coverage and finish but as my skin isn’t used to heavy foundations I broke out with a couple of blemishes, nothing big or aggressive and could have been an accumulation of becoming accustomed to a new product and the hot weather we’ve had.
