OCC Stained Gloss Lip Tar Review

MAKEUP | REVIEW – 1 Step To Juicy Lips.

I have used OCC lip tars for years, back when the packaging was a little different and the caps were a travel disaster! They are such an innovative product that everyone from avid lipgloss lovers to professionals use them. I like to use these on shoots as they’re super opaque and customisable. The texture is also unique as it’s runny like a paint but dries a little meaning you can gloss them up to the Max with a slick of clear gloss or matte them down with a dusting of powder. Genius!

The new stained glosses* are fabulous, they don’t heavily stain the lips as you may think the name suggests however the coverage is great even though the consistency is a little thinner. They rate 5 out of 5 for the Gloss Factor, I mean I have never used a gloss that looks so shiny on the lips.

With that glossiness comes a price, glossy teeth!  the texture means  the product travels a little when talking however I was using more than I would on a day to day basis as I wanted to take good pictures. My advice would be to always use the little brush provided as it encourages you to use less product and do that pervy finger suck to remove excess.

The colours

Voyeur – A bright yellow looks more sunshine in the tube but appears more neon on the lips. Would be great for and editorial but it wasn’t as good in coverage compared to the others so I would use a lipliner underneath to get that intense punch.

Jealous – A gorgeous bright orange that has a hint of red making it appear the perfect coral on the lips. This looks great on and would be the perfect pairing with a holiday tan.

Rhythm Box – A juicy berry colour that looks a little more purple in the tube but gives lips a full fuchsia finish. The gloss on this showed the most and was probably my favourite. As it wears it transforms from a deeper pink to a lightweight hot pink stain. What I like about this is it a year round colour, pair with a little bronzer and dash of mascara for Summer or a pink cheek and cat eye liner for the colder months.

These liptars last so long, the smell is delicious and the price is great for the amount of application you will get from these. The size and ability to create bespoke shades make these a dream.
