L’Oréal Hydra Genius Aloe Water Review

With the popularity of Asian skincare at an all time high, more brands are creating products inspired by K Beauty with ingredients that hydrate, plump and smooth.

L’Oréal Paris Laboratories have launched a new product that has the weight and fluidity of a serum with the moisture of a cream.

Aqua / Water, Glycerin Soin Testé Sous Contrôle Dermatologique, A Lcoho L Denat., D Imethi Cone, Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethane Sulfonic Acid,  Pentylene Glycol, Peg-20 Methyl GlucoseSesquistearate, Peg-60 Hydrogenated CastorOil, Silanetriol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice,  Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hydroxide, Silica Dimethyl Silylate [Nano] / Silica DimethylSilylate, Hyaluronic Acid, Ascorbyl Glucoside,  Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate , Disodium Edta, Caprylyl Glycol, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum, T-Butyl Alcohol, Betula AlbaJuice, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Octyldodecanol,  Butylene Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Tocopherol, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Ci 42090 /Blue 1, Linalool, Limonene, Parfum /Fragrance

The moisturising stand out stars are aloe, hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate. These work together to increase hydration and retain moisture whilst reducing trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL).

What they say

72 hour recharge – it releases continuous hydration and drenches the skin with moisture for up to 72 hours.

It delivers pure moisture that penetrates quickly, deeply and continuously – without
overloading the skin.

The texture is similar to a Korean jelly cleanser, it is thicker than a water but thinner than a lotion.

Unlike many water based products this doesn’t evaporate quickly leaving skin feeling parched. Initially, due to its consistency you would be forgiven for thinking it is a serum.

I have to admit that although I’m a huge fan of rich moisturising creams I like the effect this leaves on my skin. It looks and feels smoother, and, despite being absorbed at lightening speed it still feels hydrated. Creating an ideal base for makeup.

The fresh fragrance is hard to avoid, it’s pretty strong. However this isn’t something that would deter me from skincare unless it’s a heavy chemical smell or if my skin was incredibly sensitive. The one I have is recommended for dry and sensitive skin and still has said fragrance but wears off after time.

How To Use

Apply alone on cleansed skin or after serum. Personally I like to layer my skincare so I cleanse, tone, essence, serum or booster then this. It creates and effective water-loss prevention layer.

Overall I like it, it does leave my skin feeling moisturised; and does so for hours afterwards. I still hold preference to my balm-like moisturisers on an evening so I keep this for morning use. It works better that way as skin isn’t overloaded and it provides a smooth skin canvas prior to foundation.

F.Y.I – Comparison wise I would say it feels similar to Pixi H2O skin drink.
