Cupcake Art

It’s not often I get invited to an event where I get to be hands on and crafty so when I get invited I jump at the chance. It’s a great way to relax and spend time with other bloggers whilst having a laugh along the way.

Joe Blogs invited a group of North East bloggers to join a cupcake decorating class at the Copthorne Newcastle. When I confirmed my attendance I never thought for one moment we’d end up making something quite as professional in the short time we had.

The wonderfully talented Julie from Julies cake house took us through the steps in creating each of the 4 cupcakes, from the ornate flower to the incredibly cute teddy and pearls. Thankfully we were already provided with pre decorated cupcakes, and dressed them using coloured icing, glitters and edible balls.

Each step was demonstrated clearly and we all managed to create some pretty impressive cakes, it was great to unwind within a group and would be the perfect event for a birthday and such. You can book classes with Julie for icing courses and cupcake classes, they’re such a great idea whether you’re a complete novice or professional looking to pick up some tips.

After the event we were shown around the Copthorne hotel, there’s been some welcome updates to the decor but the relaxing views across the river remain the same. We were taken to the late Sir Bobby Robson’s office and shown the view from the balcony, sometimes you forget just how great the architecture is across the Quayside!
