L’Occitane’s Supreme Protection

SKINCARE | REVIEWS – Shea Saves The Day.

I once went on a date with a South African guy called Shea, I wonder if his mother was a fan of the product? Anyway besides the unnecessary fact from my life I have using some facial moisturisers from the fabulous L’Occitane range.

As us in the UK know, it’s grim, cold, windy and did I say cold outside which leads to one thing dehydrated, unhappy skin. Add to that central heating and copious amount of tea and coffee and you are on your way to becoming a dried prune. OK maybe a prune is harsh but these factors definitely play their part in creating those lines and that tired dull appearance.

What can we do?

1. Increase the amount of water you drink
2. Exfoliate
3. Apply a rich nourishing moisturiser, my hero has been the one I am about to talk about.

This product deserves its own song as it is a heavy contender in the world of moisturisers that actually make my skin feel properly moisturised. Not apply it then oh dear my face feels dry again, this has taken away the dry skin around my nose and for some reason top lip? I don’t wax honest!

The Gallery

L’Occitane Ultra Rich Face Cream – 50ml £29.50
This Ultra Rich face cream is packed with 25% Shea butter which means you use less and feel more. In the Winter months a thicker cream is recommended especially at night when the skin is renewing and could use the extra moisture. The texture is like an expensive creamy butter that doesn’t sink into the skin instantly, you can still feel the dewy texture on you skin hours after applying. It is not in the least greasy and best of all doesn’t have that watery texture which I’m not a fan of. This is intended for dry and very dry skin so if you have skin that is a little oily this may be a little rich for you.

L’Occiatne Ultra Gentle Moisturiser – 50ml £24
This fragrance free lotion is great for those with normal, dry or sensitive skin. It has a thinner consistency than the Ultra Rich but still contains goodness with the soothing action of the liquorice extract, 8% Shea butter and Alpha Bisabolol extracted from Candeia oil. I use this one when feel my skin isn’t in need of a heavy moisturiser. It is a lighter lotion but perfect for any time of year. I have this in my kit!

Shea On The Go – 8ml £6 (Hello Bargain)

This product has a huge fan base and I can’t believe I’ve only just found it, it’s 100% Shea butter in a tin. Because of its natural properties it solidifies above certain temperatures so to soften it you just take some out and rub between your fingertips until it has become more malleable. My son has some chapped skin around his mouth and nose due to a cold and this has been the only product I have been using. Even when softened the product is still very dense so it acts like a barrier, perfect for chapped hands and lips!

There’s another range that sounds so delicious it is making me salivate as I type, having a Homer Simpson moment here!
